This rose has incredible healing properties for our skin as well as a very unique history. It was developed by Dutch rose breeders between the 17th-19th centuries. These flowers are incredibly aromatic and much of it is cultivated in Grasse, France, the fragrance capital of the world. This special flower is not just used in the world of perfumery but also in the world of skin care. It's has anti-septic and anti-bacterial characteristics, which are very important for our skin because that is where so much bacteria is stored. It is also known for it's remarkable anti-inflammatory effects to help calm the skin when it's irritated. Due to it's abundant level of anti-oxidants it can help fortify skin and re-strengthen its cells as well as slowing down the aging process. It's beautiful, it's fragrant and it's simply marvelous at protecting our cells.

 This very unique tree is one of the oldest living plants used in skin care today. Some of these trees can live up to 1,000 years old. It's contains many of the same properties as the rose. Since most of our skin is damaged by the free-radicals floating in and around the atmosphere it is incredibly important that we use plants like Gingko to protect us, due to its high anti-oxidant levels. Also known for being anti-inflammatory and a natural anti-bacterial, it can help heal skin conditions like rosecea and eczema.

This annual flower, which is native to the Mediterranean, is known for disinfecting minor wounds. It has immuno-stimulant properties that are great for cuts or scrapes.  4. Algae Extract

We all now that algae are some of the most important living plants on the planet. They help produce the oxygen that we breathe and they keep our waters clean. So how exactly to they help the skin? Algae is so full of
"enzymes, chlorophyll, amino acids, nucleic acids, fatty acids, and DHA." These all help to keep our cells in tip top shape. "Recent studies show that algae extract is rich in a compound called Alguronic Acid, shown to increase cell regeneration and the synthesis of elastin". So it not only oxygenates our cells but it helps regenerate them too. In some cases, the algae has been very successful for fighting acne.

Last but certainly not least is the olive leaf. The leaf is high in antioxidants such as "flavonoids, rutin, catechin and leuteolin". According to a study published in a 2011 issue of "Journal of Medicinal Foods" the olive leaf actually helped wounds of an animal heal much faster than without commercial ointment. Some studies have shown that this leaf can even help protect our skin again cancer. An important essential element of olive leaf is oleuropein,  which was shown to protect the skin against sun damage by slowing down the enzymes that break down the skin. One study found that oleuropein is even better for the skin than Vitamin E, according to a study published in a 2008 "International Journal of Cosmetic Science." This leaf is worth paying attention to and works in harmony with the rest of these fabulous ingredients.
